Come ON over!

Ok, that sites up.
I've made a post.
I really like it over there.

I'm having some troubles importing my archives...but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Come on over!!!

I have a new home. Well a new blog home that is.
Mark...our Blogfather has offered me a lovely place to stay away from the evil of BLOGGER!!!!!
It's not finished yet but I already pointed my blogroll at it so...OOPS!

I will give you the updated link when I am done playing probably on monday.

Well then

Well Anniversary number 11 ended in a teary fight on the couch about started projects that NEVER EVER GET FINISHED.
Somehow, the one of us that has a renovations/restorations company cannot seem to renovate or restore his own home.
SURE he can start 1000 things but he can't seem to finish any of them. I mean I have a front closet with NO door, cause he hates slidey closet doors. Ok it was 3 yrs with NO door at all and now it's been 2 wks with a partial frame and a door leaning against the opposite wall. Our living room is 3 different colours right now because he hasn't "had the chance" to finish the painting.
The ceiling still has plastic stapled to parts of it, cause he wants to redo the california texture so why bother taking ALL the plastic down..the little shards of it are fine.
GRRRRR! I'm a little miffed is all. Every now and then I have to freak out on him and he starts working on the house a bit more.

In other news...I might be moving (my blog) sooner than I thought! More on that as later.

I'm getting a massage on MOnday and I hope that means on the 14th I won't be so sore!
We shall see.

More crying

I can't run tonight.
I was in denial all day.
I made plans to run.
People are meeting at my house at 6pm so we can run together.
My wardrobe malfunction has caused a wound that is totally grounding me.
After shopping today I came home to find my jeans STUCK to my owie.
STUCK TO IT.
I re-applied butt'r. ZOINKS that's some painful shit right there.
And after screaming like a girl I applied some zinc diaper cream right after.
Again?
More pain than child birth.

So then I put on my running tights, thinking that they would be great cause they don't move around too much.
Well chubby old me bought the baggy tights last year cause I didn't want to be seen in TIGHT tights.
They fit like tights on me last year but not obscenely tight like some people (boys you know what I'm talking about). This year? THEY'RE BAGGY and move around over my owie.

So I've finally come to terms with the fact that I cannot run tonight. CAN NOT. In no way can I. I considered duct taping it. But what goes on must come off and I don't see that as a pleasant experience.

Tonight's run was only 5 BUT saturdays run is 21. So I want to be sure I am all healed by then and if not I have to figure out how to protect it while I run. Let me tell you this is not a job for butt'r or body glide. This is possible a panty liner taped to my leg kind of job.

Unless of course someone has a better suggestion?

Nothing to Blog

Bah...and such is my life.

Today is our 11th anniversary. Not exactly WEDDING anniversary since there never was a wedding. But more of a moving in together anniversary. When we had been together a couple of years we didn't know what date to consider our anniversary. The first date? The first "sleep over"? We decided on moving in cause that was pretty much the point when we figured out we would be spending a significant amount of our lives together (don't want to say forever cause you NEVER know!)

Anyway 11 years later and he's still a dick!! I'm kidding. 2 kids, a vehicle and house later we are as married as anyone else.

Now I'm feeling a little jipped (is that how you spell it) that we didn't have a wedding (totally my idea to NOT get married) so NO PRESENTS! That sucks.

A couple of years ago I found out that the company I worked for then gave you a week off paid when you got married. So I tried to convince Chris that is was the time for us to get married.

He said NO! He said, "I asked you to marry me 9 years ago (at the time) and you said no, now you want to marry me for a week off?"
"well...yeah" I said.

So once again no wedding.

We've always said the only way we would ever get married is in a cheesy Vegas drive thru wedding. And since I am a closet CSI addict I KNOW the horrors of Vegas and we won't be visiting anytime soon.

hee.

Hmm Who'd A Thunk It?

Soooo so so so so many people told me that training for my first half marathon was going to change running for me. I thought...OK, gotcha...whatever you say.

And I can't honestly say I believed them then...or now for that matter.

But something has definitely changed in running for me. Tonight again, I ran like I was as light as air. It was effortless, well that's not accurate either. There was effort but it was more easily found effort. Do you know what I mean?

I had the effort to give or something I don't know.

But I do know that this next half marathon is MUCH hillier than the first one I did. But these are hills I run every day, every week. And on a route I've run...100 billion times. I am interested in my time this time. We shall see what happens.

But I do know I am enjoying running so much more right now. COuld be the weather. COuld the weight. COuld be my body being used to more mileage. But I'm loving it. And I'm not going to question it and realize next week that I'm back to trudging through the hilliest town in Ontario with out a spring in my step. For now I'll just take what I can get.

Stupid blogger seems to be fixed.
BAH!
Thinking about a domain name registration and moving this blog.

Any name suggestions??

Pamalamadingdong.ca?
runningcommentary.ca?

We shall see.

OH! In other sad sad news, I've worn out my most favouritist running pants. They're these lovely blue capris by Brooks and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. And now they have a hole from my big fat sausage thighs rubbing together in a not at all sexy way! And with race registrations and the new $100 winter running top I want I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW PAIR!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phooey!
Poverty sucks.

CURSE YOU BLOGGER!

Blogger is freaking out. I can't get in to delete that extra post.
Oh well..live with it.

Nothing to blog today. Running 8 tonight and I can only assume I will be back to my ever so slow self. I wondering now if our route was actually 10k the other night. I think it might have been closer to 9. Either way, it was a faster pace than I'm used to. Which is good every now and then!

21k this weekend. We going to run the race route I believe. Which will be interesting. It's right here in town and it's SO hilly. I might bring my camera just to show you..but then really, do I want to run for 2.5 hrs with a camera in my hand? I wish now that I had bought a slimmer model (isn't that always the case?) so it would fit in one of my water belt pockets....hmmm..we'll see.

I wonder if blogger is speaking to me again or will I have to email this one in?

It's just wrong

It's just wrong

My Fall From Grace

This morning while grocery shopping (teaming with PMS hormones) I ate doughnut. Not just any doughnut. I ate a chocolate topped, whipped cream filled yeast doughnut. And it was almost better than sex.

I counted it from my daily points mind you so it's not like I was really cheating. And then later all I had was a vegetarian hotdog (quite yummy actually) and that was it before weight watchers.

My grand total?
10.4lbs.
WOOHOO! I would've got a ribbon if I stayed for the (Hi! My name is Pam and I'm a fat ass) meeting. I have about 17 lbs left to go. How great is that?

I feel great. I wasn't used to being over weight. It's not something I've had to deal with really before. I always wanted to introduce myself as "Hi, I'm not usually fat". That's sad.

I mean thank god I didn't have 100lbs to lose (keep in mind folks I'm UNDER 5ft tall 100 extra pounds would not be pretty!).

Ok! I'm off to eat something naughty!

Oh Boy

Can you even imagine the nerve?

She had the hydro put in her name?

HILARIOUS!
Check it out

Ten Kilometers

Deceiving weather we've been having. I wore a wind breaker and long sleeved running shirt tonight ended up covered in sweat! And I do mean covered. The kind that drips off your forehead and down the back of your neck (obviously NOT the same drip...)
Anyway I felt like I was running fast tonight. And it turns out I was!
10k in 56min. That is super fast for me.

HURRAH!
I have finally moved up from turtle speed to snail.

Tonight?

I won.

I Can't Make this Stuff Up.

Welcome to Canada, home of gay marriages and liberal (sort of) Governments...
My sister S runs a Gay and Lesbian group at her college. She's loving it since most them use it as a dating service (she's finally getting some).

Anyway they have to provide the school with posters about their meeting indicating place and time etc. But the poster must be approved by the school before being posted.

This one was approved:

BOYS WE'VE COME FOR YOU WIVES.

This one was NOT approved (on the grounds of RECRUITING!):

COME OUT COME OUT WHERE EVER YOU ARE.

Personally I think this one is brilliant! But alas it does have questioning my sexuality so I guess they have a point.

HELLO?

RECRUITING?

WTF?

p.s. Yes to the font colour or no?

ZOINKS!

Today's 18k were interesting.

Today we were officially given the title of REAL RUNNER (even though Chris already gave me that title last week). Our route today was not the usual route we do for 18k. No sir. Today our fearless leader decided it was our time to meet....MILE HILL (that should echo). MILE HILL is exactly as is sounds...long....and steep...but it's also..narrow and curvy (something I hope to be someday soon). But it was a challenge. We met it and did ok. We were told to not deny ourselves a walk break half way up if need be. But we didn't need to. I was a bit winded at the top and too a brief drink break but continued on with out much problem.

It was then followed buy an additional 10 or 12km of rolling hills and steady inclines. And ended with a nice down hill that wasn't TOO down hill if you know what I mean.

My legs are definitely tired though. But in a good way.

The weather was perfect. I left the house and it was 4 degrees, it didn't warm up much from that. I mean you can't ask for better temps for a long run I think.

At this moment right now? Both my kids are out with (separate) relatives doing fun fall things with them. And what are my hubby and I doing with this time?
Well he's next door helping the neighbour put new brakes on his car.
Scratch that. He's the one that's actually doing the brakes and the neighbour is walking around watching.
Great.

GAH!!! I'm SICK of this rain.

It has been raining off and on since LAST WEEK! It's been chilly and windy and I am REALLY getting sick of it. SICK OF IT!
Ohhhh it's supposed to clear up this aft..we are supposed to see the sun. THE SUN! But it's going to turn to rain again over night and continue into the morning (long run) and taper off to something half way decent by mid morning. So get this.
We will START our 18k cold and wet, then at some point, I BET around km 10 it will stop raining but remain grey and over cast. Which leaves us running WET. Nothing I detest more. In a chilly yucky day. I will be sure to capture ALL of my chafing (I actually have SCARS from my bra line now...I bet you were eager to hear that) and post what's decent enough to share.

UGH!

In other news, there is a bag of OREOS in the kitchen...taunting me from the shelf in the cupboard. I can't stop thinking about them. MUST HAVE COOKIE!!!! CAN"T STOP. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

Also, I've given up sweetening my tea with sugar twin, cause that stuff CANNOT be healthy so I've started using honey. Honey is not something I enjoy so it's taken sometime to get used to it. 1 tsp of honey in my mug I am all strung out. I talk a mile a minute (that;s not all that out of the ordinary) but I am also flittering around like a lunatic (also not really that unusual). So I ask, is honey better for you (energy wise) than refined sugar? I'm thinking of eating it before my next long run. I'll be UNSTOPPABLE!!

Ok..I need more tea

YUCK!

My soon to be Nine year old Son has two pets in his room. Both of which I fought tooth and nail but was eventually over ruled (I did manage to keep it at bay for about 4 years though).

Anyway he has a snake (Californian king named King Ludwig) and a leopard gecko(Skipper).
Oh yeah they're cute little devils. The snake does nothing but occasionally bask under his infrared lamp, the gecko is a TINY bit more active. And they're both rather pretty.

The snake eats frozen mice, well baby mice. And once I got over the infantile look of them, I'm mostly ok with it. Unless he refuses to eat them (he can get finicky) and swell up under his lamp and begin to stink. The gecko on the other hand eats crickets...LIVE crickets. And my NUMBER one issue with the gecko was that we would find crickets roaming the house. I was ASSURED this would not occur.
NEVER would it ever occur.

For the last 3 days I have heard a suspect chirping coming for behind my basement door, and having watched my fair share of horror movies I DO NOT open the basement door when eerie sounds are being emitted from behind it.

So just now while browsing some blogs, I notice something out of the corner of my eye.

In a panic I THROW the laundry that I was about to (get the nerve) to bring to basement to wash.

The thing laughed in the face of soiled Incredible Hulk jammies and climbed to the summit. I did the ONLY reasonable thing left. I covered it with a glass and called my hubbies cell.

He's apparently NOT leaving work early to come save me.
WHATEVER!

BEHOLD!

THE EVIL ROUGE CRICKET! Posted by Hello

Hurray for Fall!

I ran last night with a few people that did the Chicago marathon. We went nice and slow so we could chat. They had SUCH great tales about being Canadians down there it was awesome. They wore Canada flag singlets with their names on top, they said the support the Canadians received was phenomenal. They loved every second of it.
We were supposed to only go 8k and that was totally our intention. Until we go to this one part of town that is covered in old old maple trees. And we took a little detour so we wouldn't leave that area too quickly. The weather was perfect! I mean really there is NO better running weather than a dry fall night. So we ended up going just a little further. Maybe 10 or 12k we weren't exactly sure.

Anyway so I will do my short run tonight so I will rest tomorrow night before our 18k on Saturday morning.

Our running group has a Halloween run every year. Last year the people I ran with didn't want to dress up. So I bought some silly eyes for the top of my head and went anyway (breakfast is involved).
This year they all want to dress up. I'm think penguins (Like John Bingham's books and groups) but not sure.

Any suggestions?

For Love of...

NOAH!!!! Posted by Hello

Yeah.
Whilst preparing dinner for my loved ones. Noah got a little impatient. I was coming into the dining room to see where the little devil was. I found him STANDING on our buffet crayon in hand redecorating.

BUGGER!
Thank the Gods it's washable (and the wall was recently emptied of all hanging pictures in order to paint sometime in the next millenium).

Nine

That's how many pounds I've lost. NINE!
How exciting is that! The friend that comes to Weight Watchers with me has lost nine as well and she runs a third of what I run. What's up with that? She also probably has 20 more to lose than I do.
Still...seems unfair.
I drag my ass over the hilly roads of this town 4 times a week. And she runs on average twice (lots of times it's once) a week and loses the same amount.

That's so unfair!

I haven't started with the weights yet. I can't even SEE the weight machine thingy for all the SHITE in our basement. Someday....

For all of those who are concerned....I got a new box of tea last night. I waited till this morning to open it..cause there is NOTHING like the smell of fresh tea. It's like...well...victory..no...it's more like....uh...Heaven? No. Hell...definitely not. Anyway suffice to say it's smells good, ok?
Geesh.

How odd is this?

5 Google uvula 2004/09/again-with-uvula.html

2 Google uvula pictures 2004/09/again-with-uvula.html

7 people have made their way to my blog via UVULA searches. What's up with that?

Sometimes Silence is Bad

Noah woke up an hour early from his nap. He called me a couple of times but now he's quiet.

Which could mean, he's pooping, he's taking off all of his clothes and emptying his crib onto the floor, he's fallen back to sleep (HIGH unlikely) or he's fashioning a rope ladder to make his grand escape (my money's on that one).

Something New

found this over at Rick's site.
Give it a try.

Name THREE of your......

2. Favorite Sounds: laughter, squeaky snow, the silence of 8:30pm

3. Favorite Flavors of Candy: caramel; chocolate; reeses pieces...oh soooo many more.

All The Tea in China

I'm out of tea!!!
OUT.
No tea for me.
This does not make for a happy Pamalama.
I have one bag. Slightly used.
Gonna wait till the little sprog goes for a nap and brew it.
I might even splurge and use REAL sugar. NO! Honey. Yes.....honey.

I will need a snack as well. Hmmmm...what to eat? what to eat? Has to be something healthy-ish.

I'll get back to you on that.

A C-C-C-COLD 10k

It was a freaking cold run tonight. More Karma? Geesh I'm SORRY about the snow jokes alright?

It was a good run. I hate to jinx myself but I think I'm getting....faster. There are people that can't keep up with me (ok it's only 3 but still THEY can't keep up!). I'm feeling very strong in my running right now.

LOVE THAT!

Maybe my 7lb loss is contributing. They say it's like taking off a 7lb back pack.

Of course I'm still wearing a 15lb back pack! Think of how fast I'll get.

Well I'm off to eat.

Ciao bellas (and bellos)

A Post of Sucky

I burnt my finger.
On the toaster oven.
It's very red and a little white in the middle.
And
and
and
It HURTS!!!!!!!!

Heh

Did you hear?
Edmonton got 10cm of snow yesterday! Poor Mark. (heh heh heh). I don't why that tickles so, it just does.

Ran yesterday. We did the 16k we were supposed to do on Saturday. On Saturday we postponed cause the weather was supposed to be nasty. It turned out not so nasty on Saturday.

On Sunday it was FREEZING and SO windy. We chose to run most of it on a rail trail near the river. It's heavily wooded so we were protected from the wind for the most part.
It looked like it was snowing maple leaves. There were that many flying through the air. And since they were wet for the kazillion days of rain we had they mostly just flittered to the ground or on us. It was really lovely. The colours seem extra vibrant on a dreary day.
Anyway, it was a good run. I feeling strong right now and I'll take that any day of the week.

10k tonight and I think it's going to rain. The wind chill is supposed to be below zero this evening. How awesome is that?
Blah.

I had so much to blog about and now it's gone.

I could tell you how my dogs ripped up a 25lb bag of potting soil. All over my WHITE deck.
That was fun.
My sister was on her way out through the back door and stops and goes "Before you come back here and look, I think you should give the dogs a head start"
Nice mess.
The white dog was no longer white.
The white deck was no longer white.
The dogs were no longer welcome.
Banished off the deck to the back yard for the remainder of the day.

Ok I'll probably come back later when I have something interesting to blog about.

A Confession of Sorts

Alright. I'll admit it. I. Am a horrible mother.

Now...don't get me wrong. I LOVE being with Noah everyday. LOVE IT. But this whole stay at home Mom thing? Boring.
I am bored out of my skull!
Especially now that I'm not really snacking...NOTHING TO DO!
I could clean the house. I know this. I also know I SHOULD clean the house. But, you know.....ick!
I don't like to clean the house.
Remember the days when I worked in an office a bazillion hours a day supporting stupid users (sorry) and network printers? And since we were gone from our home for so long during the week it never really got a chance to get dirty?
Yeah I don't remember that either.
Well I VAGUELY remember it.
I big part of me feels like I'm missing something. But the other part of me will not put Noah in daycare just yet. I know millions of kids have gone and they're all great and wonderful and perfectly adjusted. But I still want to stay home with him.
I've considered taking in a kid, but really isn't that just more of the same stuff? I need a challenge. I need to feel productive.
But the question is...HOW can do it? What I can do from home? The computer repair market is already cornered by a friend of mine, and he's not looking for a partner.
And basically I don't have ANY OTHER SKILLS! HOW SAD IS THAT! I am a obsolete geek!
I've been out of work (my choice but none the less) for 2 years and I think I am basically unemployable.

HELP! I need suggestions!

In other news, I bought new kitchen curtains today and they clash SO badly with my kitchen wallpaper (yes WALLPAPER) I have to return them. I mean...really hideous clashing. Like I was temporarily blind when I picked them out or maybe I was thinking about someone else's kitchen certainly NOT mine.

Noah has a little cold which is not so nice but not so bad either, however he sounds SO stinking cute with his little stuffy nose that I chuckle every time I hear him speak (which is, just for the record, always..none stop from morning to night. I think he gets that from Chris' side of the family...certainly not mine. I am as quiet as a church mouse. hmm church mouse, can you imagine the chaos a mouse would cause at church? HA! Something to do tomorrow! yes!).

It's good to be back
:)

My Favouritest Guest Blogger EVER!

Zoot is the bestest guest blogger ever! Is she not? I love her to pieces. And that fact that I readily exchanged email via my cell phone with this woman tickles me pink.
Have you seen her new hair? It's HOT!

My evening was basically uneventful. Had a pasta (whole wheat) dinner since i have an 18k run tomorrow. Played with the kiddies...and then read some email.

Low and behold....Noah the little darling that he is.....toddles into the living room with a box of corn pops. from the garbage. and proceeds to dump them ALL over the floor. ALL OVER IT!
1000 corn balls on my living room floor.
Then he stomped on them like he was making corn wine. It was NOT a pretty sight. Especially with Dori running around behind him trying to gobble up the ones that didn't get smushed.
However, stale corn balls are much like marbles and will sometimes lead to 2 yrs old flailing around Dick Van Dyke style and landing on not on his heiny but the dog's too.
Not a happy couple.

All is well again and everyone is asleep. And I'm blogging

ahhhhhh digital bliss.

I'm ALIVE!

Woa!
That was a little more of a hiatus than I thought.
We ended up having to change ISPs. So FINALLY I'm back.

Lots of running....lost 7lbs. Lost 4 minutes of my usual 10k time.

Half marathon coming up in November.

rain rain rain.

summer came in october.

I broke my cell phone yesterday. (throwing it against the wall will do that apparently).

I HEART ZOOT!!!!

So what happened while I was gone?
Anyone get pregnant?
A new job?
New injuries?
TELL ME EVERYTHING!!!!

I missed you guys SO much!

She's Alive!

Just thought I'd pop in and let you know I emailed Pam's cell phone and this was her response:

"Hi! still alive! should be back early next week! how r things?"

Do you see that? She's alive! And she should be back next week! Yeah! Let's plan a party for her. I'll bring the Krispy Kreme Donut Cake.

That's about all I got today, folks. The leaves are changing colors here so I can't wait to start taking pictures of that. We here in Alabama KNOW how to do Autumn up real good. It's gorgeous. Are the leaves changing in your neck of the woods yet?

Holy Crap! She's Still Gone!

I'm assuming Pam is still without internet access, or still on Voltron, or still hypnotized by gypsies...whatever it is that's keeping her from blogging. Whatever the reason, I'm going to fulfill my duties as a blogfriend and try to post something for her to keep you all entertained.

My Dad just visited me for four days. He's pretty athletic in that he tries to run a couple miles several times a week. Well - as we all know - I am NOT athletic. So - as a trade off - we did a hell of a lot of walking. We walked all around downtown. TWICE. We walked to Target and back. We explored my neighborhood for HOURS. And this morning? We walked about two miles round trip, for a FREAKIN' NEWSPAPER!

As sad as I was to see him go? My feet? Are very happy. I have blisters on the tops of my toes for chrissakes. Who gets blisters there? Me, evidently.

So - there you have it. The closest I'll come to a running commentary...a bitchy whiney walking commentary.

At least there werent any mosquitos!

Walking Commentary

Hey Guys! It's me again, and Blogger hates me! Whee!

Seriously. I've been trying to publish an entry for Pam all freakin' day - to no avail. Blogger keeps crapping out on me and not letting me publish.

I heard from Pam. She said, "Thank you!" and that is all. I'm assuming this means she's still alive and well without internet access, but I'm really not sure. It could also be a ploy from her kidnappers to keep us distracted.

Well, I went on a SEVEN MILE walk yesterday - in Pam's honor. How is THAT for guest-blogging loyalty? I have four blisters and ninety zillion mosquito bites today to show for it. I didn't run at all, but I walked. SEVEN MILES. That's a lot for me. We have a great greenspace here that leads down to the Tennessee River. The trail gets all sorts of traffic. Walkers, Runners, Bikers, Roller BLaders, and a BUNCH of people on those weird sitting bicycle things. What are those things called? You sit close to the ground and pedal, on four wheels? Yeah - we saw several of those.

We also saw a couple speed walking and pulling their, obviously slow, dog along in a red wagon.

I mean, I give you dogs in wagons! What more could you want from me?

Saturday, October 02, 2004

I'm Sorry. It's still me.

You all are very cool, do you know that? You all miss Pam so much that I believe you may be starting to actually hate me in return! I think if I got kidnapped by aliens for awhile and someone had to blog for me, my readers would be all, "Thank GOD. I've heard enough about Krispy Kreme donuts and Reality TV to last a lifetime!" But not you guys...nope...you all are faithful readers.

How much is she paying you?

I still havent heard from her since the day she told me she was out of internet access. I think she's feeling fine, although it's hard to get a good feel for it since we have to communicate in 100 character or less messages. I have emailed her cell phone again today to see if she's still alive. I'll keep you posted.

Until then? You're stuck with me. But I'm not all bad. I made some yummy chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies today that I'm more than happy to share with you. Would you like some?

I'm Back!!!

Hey guys! It's me, Pam. For real! I swear it's me - not Zoot. I'm back from Zoltron and uh, all is well now. And I'm running! Really I am! That's how you know it's me, and not Zoot, because I'm running. A lot.

Shit.

I'm not fooling you guys, am I? It's still Zoot here. I have heard not a word from Pam today so I'm going to continue using her blog as the place where I unload my deepest and darkest secrets.

Today's Secrets?

I don't like cake. But more than that? I don't like icing.

I also don't like the show Everybody Loves Raymond. Yep, I don't love Raymond.

Okay. That's good for today. I'm off to go run now.
